The new Xorus Patchinko 125 Mackerel is sure to find many friends among the huge band of Patchinko worshippers.
At 18g Sitting nicely between The 2 Model at 27g and the 100 model at 15 G it will come into the subtle class of top water lures which are very necessary in calmish conditions.
The casting weight will allow a lighter rod to be used meaning better concentration over many hours for the angler and more precision in the animation of the lure.
Most of the weight in the lure is concentrated at the tail allowing long accurate casts
Normally a steady retrieve is all that is needed to get plenty of takes. Adding in a few pauses is always a good idea and if the fish are not responding then a slightly more aggressive ‘walk the dog’ retrieve will induce some strikes.
In very calm conditions at can sometimes pay to let the lure drift with the current and tap it gently and infrequently.
